The first annual Women Owning It Summit in March reminded us the value of resource sharing and the power of mentorship. As we move forward with the Women Owning It series, we’re reflecting on the importance this community has played in our lives the last year.

For our fifth event in the series taking place on Wednesday, June 12th, we’re inviting the organizers behind mentorship networks in the city to reflect on community. We’re curious how resources and knowledge get shared in safe spaces, how people find mentors in informal, organic ways when building their network, and how new voices in media and tech are working to build capacity for the next generation as they come up.

This panel of five community builders will take on how they created the networks missing in their professional lives and how their commitment to building their support circles has translated into creating a space for others to do the same. Our hope is that attendees leave this morning session reinvigorated and feel empowered to build their businesses, brands and billable hours.

Panelists include: Cody Jacobs (WE NYC), Huriyyah Muhammad (The Black TV and Film Collective), Iyabo Boyd (Brown Girls Doc Mafia), Jessica Millstone (NYEdTech Meetup), and Netta Dobbins (Mimconnect).
